About Kaatayra:

'Boca que se Engole' was composed and recorded in 2019-2020 and its original intent was to go out on a split with the band God's Bastard.

This song is dedicated to Drew Hays.

About Pessimista:

It is a great honor to be able to share a release with Kaatayra, who is the band that most inspires me within the current music scene and that makes me travel through the skies, without taking my feet off the ground.
Thank you Caio for sharing this piece of history with me.

All instruments and lyric by Jaketeme Odo

This song was inspired by the book "Uirá goes looking for God" by Darcy Ribeiro, originally released in 1974 and tells the story of an indigenous man (Uirá) from the Urubú-Kaapor ethnic group who goes in search of Maíra (God), after having their daily lives violently devastated by the "civilized" men of Maranhão. After a succession of violent, heinous and racist encounters with these men, desolate and disgraced for not finding Maíra, Uirá commits suicide by throwing himself into a river full of piranhas.

This sad story, which happened in 1939, in Vila de São Pedro. The river in question is the Pindaré River.

Drawing a parallel with Brazil in 2023, 84 years after the miserable undertaking of Uirá, Brazil is still the scene of the greatest genocide of indigenous peoples...
Brazil is as racist as it was in the colonization era, taking its children in search of the capital God (Gold, real, dollars, "civility"), to collective suicide, poisoning them in clearings in the open in its dying forests full of hidden riches that the white man insists on ripping it off his chest in the most heinous way possible.

Those who resist this modernization, civilization, extortion, usurpation, appropriation, violation, are those who die from pesticides, venereal diseases incubated in acts of violation. They are the ones who die from bullets, from the poison in the water, from animals... They are the ones who are deprived of decent food and who are dropped to heaven to die of starvation.

Over this Brazil, which looks more like a cemetery of humanity, a dominion has been imposed that has lasted more than 500 years and which needs to end.

To learn more, you can download the book on the internet, or watch it (with caution - because, even understanding that it was made about 50 years ago, it is full of racist stereotypes that are easily identified today, including the performance and choice cast) to the film at this link (www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eO2VuWr-GA&t=20s&ab_channel=PovosInd%C3%ADgenasnoBrasil)
